Privacy Policy

This English version is a translation of the Japanese original. If there is any discrepancy between the two, the Japanese version prevails.
FunnyFingers ("we", "us") sets out the following policy on how the app "SubQuest" (the "App") handles information about its users.
1. Information we collect
The App collects the following information.
| Information | When it is collected | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Photos | When you record completing a Quest. One per record | Optional (you can record without one) |
| Comments (short text) | When you record completing a Quest | Optional |
| Email address | When you create an account with an email address | Only if you choose it |
| Apple / Google account identifier | When you sign in with Apple / Google | Only if you choose it |
| Device time zone | When you open the App (a region name such as Asia/Tokyo) |
Required |
| Notification address and settings | When you turn on notifications (including which notifications you receive and their language) | Optional |
| Play history | As you use the App (XP, coins, completed Quests, unlocked Packs and themes, etc.) | Required |
| Display name and icon image | When you set up your profile | Optional |
| User ID | When you create an account (an alphanumeric ID for finding friends, assigned by the App) | Required |
| Friend relationships | When you send, accept, or block a friend request | Only if you use it |
| Quests sent and received | When you send a Quest to a friend (including the note you attach) or receive one | Only if you use it |
| Party Quest participation | When you invite others to, or join, a Party Quest | Only if you use it |
| Coin purchase records | When you buy coins (store transaction number, product, price, date and time of purchase) | Only if you purchase |
| Screen usage data | While you use the App (names of screens you open, time spent, device type, OS and app version, and approximate country or region, sent with an identifier Firebase assigns to each device the App is installed on) | Optional (you can turn it off at any time with "Send usage data" in Settings) |
| Crash reports | When the App closes unexpectedly or an error stops it from working (the error and where it happened, device type, OS and app version, and the time, sent with an identifier Firebase assigns to each device the App is installed on) | Optional (turned off with the same "Send usage data" setting as screen usage data) |
Screen usage data and crash reports are never sent with your photos, notes, friend information, user ID, or email address.
We do not receive your payment information (such as credit card numbers). Payments are processed by the App Store / Google Play.
You can also start using the App without creating an account (anonymous use). In that case we do not collect an email address or an Apple / Google identifier.
1.1 Information we do not collect (current version)
In its current version, the App does not collect the following:
- Location information. The current version has no feature that collects your location.
- Contacts, call history, SMS
- Advertising identifiers
1.2 About photos
Photos are handled within the App as records of what you achieved.
- They are stored in a private area. People without permission cannot open them even if they know the URL.
- Images shared outside the App are re-created at the time of sharing. The original photo file is not passed on, so attached data such as the date taken or camera model (Exif) is not included.
- A photo itself may show where it was taken. Before you share outside the App, we show you a screen where you can check what is in it.
1.3 Device permissions
The App may ask for the following permissions. If you decline, you can still use everything except that feature.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Camera | To take a photo for your record |
| Photos | To choose a photo for your record, and to save photos you take to your device |
| Notifications | To let you know when a Quest's deadline is near, when a friend request arrives, when you become friends, etc. |
1.4 Information handled only on your device
The following information is handled only on your device and is not sent to our servers.
- Your birthday (month and day only; we do not keep the year) and region (up to prefecture level). You can optionally set these to receive Quests matched to your birthday or region. They are not shown to friends either.
- Device tilt and shaking (motion sensors). Used to move the card's look as you tilt the device and for an effect when you shake it. Nothing is recorded or sent.
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing the App's features (recording achievements, viewing records, offering Quests)
- Identifying your account and carrying over your records when you change devices
- Notifying you when a Quest's deadline is near and about friend-related events
- Counting the "day" boundary (5 a.m. each morning) in your local time
- Providing friends, sending and receiving Quests, and Party Quests
- Verifying and granting coin purchases, checking that the same purchase is not granted twice, and responding to purchase inquiries
- Investigating the cause of problems (when you report one to us)
- Statistics for operating and improving the App (such as the number of users, the number of Quests accepted and completed, and the number of coin purchases). We aggregate these as totals, not per user. We do not identify individual users from these totals
- Understanding which screens are used, to improve the App (screen usage data). It is not used to identify individual users
- Finding and fixing the causes of unexpected closures of the App (crash reports). It is not used to identify individual users
We never use your information for advertising. We do not sell it to third parties.
3. Sharing with third parties
The App uses the following services to provide its features. Information is passed to them.
| Service | Provider | Information passed |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Supabase, Inc. | Everything listed in Section 1 (except screen usage data and crash reports) |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Google LLC | Notification address and notification text |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Google LLC | Screen usage data (not sent if you turn it off in Settings) |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Google LLC | Crash reports (not sent if you turn it off in Settings) |
| Apple Push Notification service | Apple Inc. | Notifications to iOS |
| Sign in with Apple | Apple Inc. | Information needed to verify sign-in |
| Sign in with Google | Google LLC | Information needed to verify sign-in |
| App Store | Apple Inc. | Processing and verifying coin purchases |
| Google Play | Google LLC | Processing and verifying coin purchases |
Notification text includes the names of Quests you are working on and the display names of friends. Notifications reach your device through the services above.
Information stored in Supabase is kept on servers located in Japan.
Other than the above, we do not provide your information to third parties, except where disclosure is required by law.
4. Retention and deletion
4.1 Deleting your data
If you "Delete account" from the App's settings screen, all of the following is deleted:
- Saved photos and icon image
- Comments, achievement records, XP, coins
- Display name, user ID, friend relationships, blocks
- Quests sent and received, Party Quest participation
- Your account (email address, Apple / Google link)
- Notification address and settings
This cannot be undone. Deleted records cannot be restored.
If you cannot use the App (for example, you lost your device), you can ask us to delete your data by contacting us at the address in Section 8 with your user ID (or the email address you registered). After confirming that the request comes from you, we delete the same data as "Delete account". If you used the App without creating an account, we cannot identify your data without your user ID.
However, the following remain after you delete your account:
- Coin purchase records. These are needed as sales records, so we keep them in a form that does not show who made the purchase (with your identifier removed).
- Your display name, user ID, and note left in a friend's record. When a friend completes a Quest you sent, their record keeps your display name and user ID at that time, along with your note, as "sent by". This is part of your friend's own record, so it is not deleted when you delete your account.
- Other Party Quest participants' records. Records other participants made themselves remain as theirs.
4.2 Reasons for leaving
When you delete your account, we may ask you to choose a reason (optional; you can delete your account without answering).
Your answer is stored in a form that does not show who left. It is not linked to your identifier. We use it only in aggregate to improve the App.
If there is a free-text field, what you write there is stored as is. Please do not write anything that could identify you.
4.3 Notification address
If you turn off notifications in settings, your notification address is deleted. It is also deleted when you log out.
5. Information visible to other users
The App has no way to publish your records to all users or to strangers. Other users can see information about you only in the following cases.
| Who can see it | What they can see |
|---|---|
| Friends | Display name, icon image, user ID, Traveler Lv and XP, start date, number of achievements, number of completed Packs, and records whose visibility you set to "Friends" (photo and comment) |
| Party Quest participants | Display name, icon image, and records you made in that Party (photo and comment). Participants are not necessarily your friends. We tell you this before you join |
| People you send a Quest to | Display name, user ID, and the note you attach |
| People who know your user ID | Your display name and icon image on the friend search screen. You can turn off being found by ID in settings |
- The default visibility of your records (Memories) is "Only me". Only records you change to "Friends" are visible to friends. You can change visibility later.
- Your birthday and region are never shown to anyone (1.4).
- People you block can no longer see the information above.
5.1 Sharing outside the App
Your records leave the App only when you share your own record yourself. Before sharing, we show you a screen where you can check what is included.
There is no feature for sharing a friend's records outside the App. Other users cannot share your records outside the App without your knowledge.
6. Children
The App is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App.
The App includes content that assumes users go out and act in the real world. For this reason, the App is intended for ages 13 and up.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you are aware of such a case, please contact us at the address in Section 8.
7. Security
- Photos are stored in a private area so that no one other than you can view them.
- The database is configured so that each row can be read and written only by its owner. Information shown to friends and others can be read only within the scope described in Section 5.
- XP and coins are granted, and purchases verified, on the server, not on your device.
- Communication uses encrypted connections.
8. Contact
For inquiries about this policy, please contact:
Email: contact@funnyfingers.net
9. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy as needed. If we make important changes, we will announce them in the App or on this page.
